Our Story
Support Local. Stop Hunger.
Reno Gastro Project was born during the COVID-19 public health and economic crisis. Food insecurity is an ongoing challenge for many and, unfortunately, this problem existed long before the pandemic. During the pandemic, restrictions were imposed on public spaces that had a negative economic ripple effect from the farmers who grow food to our local restaurants themselves. Many businesses closed and others continue to struggle with recovering from losses incurred during that time.
We were inspired by an effort in Washington, Giving Back Spokane, to take action here in the Biggest Little City to support our food industry while providing meals to community members in need.
Maintaining a locally owned business and food insecurity are ongoing challenges for our community and, unfortunately, these problems did not disappear when the pandemic ended. Therefore, we remain committed to purchasing full priced meals from restaurants that are then provided to people in our community facing food insecurity.
Let’s support local and stop hunger together!
